Vehicles are tools. The right one for the job makes all the difference.
Most cars are a depreciating asset, loosing value the moment you drive them off the lot. So why not buy something cheap, in decent shape, and add value? I took a 1994 Ford Explorer and restored it to replicate the jungle cruiser from the original Jurassic Park Film. I’m also experienced with rigging cameras to vehicles for Film.
It all started with a storm-damaged ‘03 Dodge Dakota. With the help of my good friend Chris Rossman, I’ve got it back on the road. Then the fun continued when I built a custom Steadicam Operator platform with safety harness, and then added roof racks and matching cap for hauling equipment, installed super-bright LED work-lights and a brush-gaurd. It’s an “Insert car” “camera car” “picture car” and “gear-hauler” all in one. It doesn’t end there. I breathed life into an old jet-ski trailer, transforming it into a deck-over process trailer, I’ve made custom hitch receiver mounts for camera and have substantial experience in safely mounting a variety of cameras to vehicles. I even trained my 10 year old Australian shepherd to stay calm for a canoe shot sequence for the film “Spooky Action”.
